Sleipnir by Keithwormwood Sleipnir by Keithwormwood
Long ago the god Loki, in the form of a white mare and impregnated by the horse Svadilfari, gave birth to Sleipnir the eight-legged. When Loki reverted to his natural form he gave Sleipnir to the god Odin, announcing that the steed could carry his rider swifter than any horse, by land, sea or air and had the power to enter the land of the dead and return.

Key Features:

The tail is not bobbed, but tied up on itself to prevent it being used as a handhold in battle.

Heavy iron shod shoes for dashing the heads of ice giants.

Runes instill the steed with protections from ice giants and the grasping hands of the dead.

The six legs at Sleipnir's front can lay down a vicious barrage of Levades during an airs above the ground Mezair maneuver.

I love this version - I've seen the old pictures, with four at the back, four and the front, but somehow this one makes much more sense :D

So I saw the movie Thor yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised to see Sleipnir in it. All excited about his brief appearance, I came here to dA to look up artwork of him, and found this one. By far the best I've seen yet! :+fav:

I think its more sophisticated than that, because Sleipnir was a horse from norse mythology, which means a creature of a religion and believe almost as old as the bible. If someone had to sue Avatar, it'd had to be the northmen and wikings. However, its like suing Dogma or any religious inspired movie because they used the conecpt of a Seraphim.

I have put this image in a collection over on Facebook, and now I just saw it again, and so I am asking if that is ok with you? I will now put the link on FB so others can find your art if it is.

I still think this is one of the more inspired things I have ever found Re: the Myths.

Well, it seems I am remiss, I cannot find it on Facebook, so I guess it is just sequestered on a CD in a very big stack cached against the day when they want to charge by the hour for web time. I hope you do not mind, I will not ever use it, but I certainly am very glad you put it up. It is very well done, but more, it was imaginatively conceived.

I wonder why we all keep renaming and respelling the names of our countries different mythological beings, cities and stuff.
I mean, over here in sweden they are called Oden, Sleipner, Loke, Tor etc, but in english they have been renamed.
Just a little bit annoying. :)

Some day your spell checker will link you to the different ways it is, and the perspectives will be seen ... if they are the same or not ... interesting, no?
